“Experience has shown that working together is not only the best solution, but also the only way to make real difference. Arzu's innovative approach of engaging ‘elders’ in the process is a fine example of creative solutions - one which we have promoted at the United Nations.”

BREAKING NEW GROUND IN SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Now in our 5th year operating at the grassroots level in rural Afghanistan, ARZU STUDIO HOPE is internationally recognized for strong commitment to transformational social change. We continue to drive innovative initiatives that foster a positive impact on the global community’s most vulnerable members.

In June 2009, ARZU broke ground on our most ambitious project to date—the construction of a “trio” of community facilities in Bamyan Province. ARZU unveiled the newly constructed Women's Community Center in Bamyan, Afghanistan on December 15, 2009. Over 50 guests attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony including the Bamyan Governor Habiba Sarabi.   This heated, walled complex includes: a classroom, tea room, two-story loom room, laundry mat with hot water and a ladies room, The wall is under way now for the Community Garden and Greenhouse, which will be completed with the spring thaw, at the same time build-out of the Sports Complex begins. Each of these facilities will offer new vocational training programs for women and girls with a special focus on enhancing the “Girl Effect.”
